Lino cutting

Hello there. Some quick snaps of what I have been working on which is some lino printing (proofs hanging up to dry in the middle photo). I've been trying out some new ink as I haven't been happy with the one I was using above, so I'm looking forward to printing these again when I get the new red.

Christmas invitation

Something Christmassy today! This is the invitation I did for my church's carol service this year. I drew the border a few years ago and thought I would use it this year for the invitation. I was quite pleased with how it came out in the end - I like a lot of detail sometimes!

Christmas music

Time for Christmas music again - yay!  You might remember I mentioned before two songs recorded by my brother-in-law: "It is Christmas" which he wrote and performed and "Carol of the Bells" which he arranged and performed. They are both lovely (even though I am rather biased) so here's a link if you would like to hear. It's so amazing to have someone around who can just sit down and play like that! I'm off to listen to Carol of the Bells one more time.

Lonely tree

There doesn't seem to have been much time lately but I did this little painting yesterday inspired I think by driving through the New Forest. In this kind of weather we've been having you get some shockingly beautiful colours in the scenery, especially when you see open areas of heath which have a layered look to them. They are the in between colours, diffused by the rain and mist and the shadows of empty branches, but also in that they are more subtle than when the forest is in full swing in the summer - you have to keep your eyes open but there are pinks, aubergine, yellow ochres, dark off reds, violets and bluey greys all to be seen.

Instagram-ed Books

Well, who can resist Instagram eh? A piece of modern day genius I'd say it is! I'm sure it's already a verb as well. I seem to have been putting more photos on my Facebook page while my brain has been trying to catch up on the blog side of things so please have a look if you are at all interested.
